Co-director Tomohiro Hasegawa explained that Roxas' was originally shorter, and the staff decided he should grow taller as the game continued to develop. Roxas was chosen as the game's protagonist as the staff thought that having a main character besides Sora would help to introduce gamers to the series' first Nintendo DS title. ![]() For Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, the staff thought that Roxas' role as a member of the group would be a suitable theme for the plot. Jesse McCartney is the voice of Roxas in the English version of the series.Īfter Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix was released, Nomura wanted to expand Roxas' role in the series to explain the events between his birth and his disappearance from Organization XIII. Since his debut in Kingdom Hearts II, Roxas has been voiced in Japanese by Kōki Uchiyama and by Jesse McCartney in the English versions. However, this scene was omitted as Nomura found it difficult to implement time-wise. The meaning of Roxas' name was meant to be revealed in a scene in Kingdom Hearts II that shows the letters in the word "Sora" rearranged with the "X" added to expand the connection between the characters. Nomura later commented that Roxas was one of the first characters created for Organization XIII, and was always intended to be the 13th member. He also stated that Roxas' merging with Sora in the game was one of the most memorable scenes from the series for him. After receiving a positive fan response to Roxas' sad scenario, Nomura concluded that it was well executed. The developers wrote Roxas' story in Kingdom Hearts II to add mixed feelings to the game in a short time frame. However, he refrained from revealing too much detail about him and said he would become an important, playable character for the franchise. Uncontrolled mitosis occurs in cancer, where either genes that stop cell division ( tumour suppressors) are switched off, or genes that encourage cell division ( oncogenes) are overactive.Įrrors in meiosis can lead to the wrong number of chromosomes ending up in germ cells, this is called aneuploidy. What is an example of a disease caused by an error in this process? Other examples are 1-2 days in male fruit flies and ~ 24 days in human males. The process lasts 6 hours in yeast but can last more than 40 years in human females, due to a developmental hold at prophase I, until ovulation. Meiosis has various timescales in different organisms, which can be affected by several factors including temperature and environment of the organism, and the amount of nuclear DNA. The process can take over 10 hours for mammalian cells in culture, budding yeast can take ~80 minutes to complete a cell cycle, whilst bacteria can divide every 20 minutes. However, there are exceptions buddingyeast will form haploid spores under nutritional deprivation. Archaeaand bacteria do not do this, so it might be tempting to think that unicellularorganisms do not sexually reproduce. Only organisms which perform sexual reproduction. In a multicellular organism, the purpose can be to grow during development, or to repair or regenerate In a unicellular organism, the purpose of mitosis is to proliferate asa species. Meiosis: Overview and commonly asked questions We will also explore the research into these processes and how cell division might go awry to cause disease states such as cancer and Down’s Syndrome. ![]() This article will explore the characteristics of both kinds of cell division, shining a light on how they are similar and in which aspects they are crucially distinct. In the process of replicating themselves, cells have another choice: do they want to make an identical copy and be left with two cells? Or do they want to make four “half-copies”, in preparation for sexual reproduction, where their genetic content will be made whole again by the process of fertilisation? This choice is the choice between mitosis and meiosis. Other cells, such as neurons, will never divide again once they are terminally differentiated they are post-mitotic. In humans, tissues such as the skin and blood contain cells that are actively dividing, whilst other tissues such as fat contain cells that expand (good if you need energy for winter, bad if you are trying to fit into some expensive jeans). In order for organisms to grow, cells have two options: they must either replicate themselves to create more cells, or the cells themselves must expand in volume. ![]() ![]() However, to make up for the lack of fun and original side-quests. It will get boring to most people rather quickly. For example, Clap-Trap has you clean the urine of a creature who’s been vandalizing Clap-Trap’s secret getaway hide-out. On a more positive note, the side-quests do try their best in making this DLC as entertaining as possible, which some actually do well. It leaves much to be desired from this DLC and leaves a big shoe for the side-quests of Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt to fill in. Unfortunately for those who were expecting a rather lengthy main quest line, you’ll be saddened to know that Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt only features three – yes, three – main quests that you can easily breeze through in less then an hour. Sometimes I'll find a working name that inspires me, hold onto it for a few chapters, and then change it. I always liked the name Selyse (as in Selyse Florent, Stannis' wife in ASOIAF) but didn't want to knock it off, so I worked on the name and came up with something of my own. I also frequently name characters and places after things that are significant to me personally, so it's not necessarily rooted in outside meaning.Īnd I'll also take names I like from the real world and other fantasy novels and riff on them. The three castes are kings, prophets, and priests and their order is a combination of the Hebrew words for those three things. I don't want to give too much away, but basically my world had a caste system and the upper three (of seven) castes are an elite Order all their own. Sometimes I pick names that just sound cool, but often times I do some serious digging. Tsalk- to close tsalk-its - gate closing place Terg-Tsalkits - Steel Gate Setyë-Tsalkits - Upper Gate mehh- to fence mehh-its - city fenced place (like in Slavonic etymology) Dzang-Mehhits - Bronze City Rchow-Mehhits - Lion City shen- to live shen-its - settlement place for living Tergwo-Shenits - Smiths' SettlementĪbsolutely. In my current WIP I made suffix -its for places and architectural elements. Mongol and Chukchi languages have both and, and languages with such phonetics looks more "advanced" and complex.Īlso, I try to make some etymology for proper names, so it will look like a real proper name with history behind it. But also they sound more "primitive" then languages with closed syllables and more advanced phonetics.Īlso, I personally found it too lazy, when conlang have either sound or, but never both, like in Japanese and Cantonese languages. Such languages have "lighter" sounding, then languages with closed syllables and clusters like -pk-, -shk. In some languages, like Japanese and Polinesian languages, most of words consist of open syllables with sequence: consonant-vowel-consonant-vowel, like: Kamehameha, Fujiwara. Abkhaz-Adyghe languages are famous for using clusters such clusters as -hsh- and -sh'h-, and other languages of Caucasus are known for using sounds "dz", "ts", "zh" and "gh" within a single word. It creates certain "atmosphere" and associations for a language.įor example, Persian language has harsh-sounding consonant clusters like -zg-, -rg-, -rd-, and Greek and Armenian words often have clusters -st-, -sp. I usually create a conlangs with certain melodics and certain sound clusters, so these conlangs phonetically resemble real languages like Persian, Mongol, Abkhaz, or Japanese. ![]() ![]() I found for much of the early game I rode an ostrich, which dramatically accelerates as it becomes more irate to get to significant distances quickly, yet sudden obstacles in the impressive dynamically changing environments occasionally made this an unwise decision. Therefore, there is the tactical choice in deciding to risk staying on a buffalo for extra coins and a bigger targeting area the next time a jump is made at the cost of potentially crashing and burning as the animal speeds up and gets harder to control. Some buck around yet can reward you coins for doing so, others speed up and a few even eat (or sit on) you to permanently end your run. There is also a significant variance in the angry states of each critter. Others like the elephant run down everything within their path, yet have a relatively short patience and are not always the easiest to use to propel to another animal afterwards. Some, such as the Giraffe, can launch you far into the distance. This is made even more significant by the varied nature of all the different animals within each region, and the developers must be commended for giving each one their own unique traits and characteristics. While this can be alleviated for certain animals such as the zebra while upgrading the zoo, this leads to a dilemma on how often to jump and when. Firstly, after every jump the targeting circle of the lasso used to land on other animals becomes smaller. Thankfully, there are many more dimensions to the game that allow numerous strategies to make it truly interesting. Instead, you have the option to jump off the creature and land onto another significantly less aggravated one.Īt its most basic level, that sums up the core mechanics of Rodeo Stampede, and if it were to end there it wouldn’t be a particularly noteworthy experience. However, there is a catch – after a set period of time while riding the animal, they will become angry and react in different ways which are designed to make staying on the brute and beating your distance high score more difficult. Borrowing tried and true auto runner mechanics, your character rides the back of one of many wild beasts – the options encountered range from buffalos to elephants and later even alligators and gorillas – and must navigate the stampede of animals ahead while avoiding obstacles such as rocks and trees. You play as a budding animal aficionado, who is looking to turn his aircraft carrier into a zoo and collect numerous animals from varied locations such as the savannah and the jungle. While not necessarily particularly innovative, the vibrant and eclectic merger of ideas betrays a depth that truly epitomises the ‘easy to learn, hard to master’ cliche.ĭespite this, even when taken at surface level, developers Featherweight Games and Yodo1, with assistance from Fruit Ninja artist Dan Graf, have crafted an exceptionally entertaining experience that is extremely difficult to put down. However, this would be a great disservice to Rodeo Stampede (Free). It would be extremely easy to attempt to draw parallels to the graphical style and arcade mechanics of Crossy Road (Free), the animal collecting elements of Disco Zoo (Free), slap on a score out of 5 and call it a day, and allow readers to use these facts to draw their own preconceptions, for better or for worse.
